The Priest River Police Department wants to alert area residents to ongoing phone scams in which suspects pose as members of law enforcement to coerce victims into giving them money. This type of scam has occurred throughout the region, including Priest River, and across the country.

City-Wide Sewer Maintenance

7/2/2024

The City of Priest River has scheduled city-wide sewer maintenance for the week of July 8th. The maintenance will include the jetting of sewer lines and conducting smoke tests in certain areas. If you experience smoke coming out through your sewer pipes, please do not be alarmed. The smoke is odorless and non-toxic and should dissipate within 20-30 minutes. The City of Priest River Police Department is currently accepting applications and resumes for the lateral entry of an experienced Police Officer.  Eligible applicants must have at least two (2) years of experience as a sworn peace officer with a state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency, who currently hold at least a basic certificate from the State’s certifying agency (P.O.S.T.), and who are currently employed as a law enforcement officer or who have left such employment in good standing within the last two (2) years. The successful applicant will undergo a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, and psychological evaluation.

Street Improvements

7/7/2023

On Monday, July 10, the city has scheduled improvements to High Street, Main Street, and Tenth Street. High Street will be closed from Treat Street to Wisconsin Street, and Main Street will be closed from Highway 2 to Montgomery Street. Please expect parking challenges downtown during this time. Parking is always available in the city-owned parking lot behind AJ’s Café, and the parking lot at the Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home (unless a funeral is scheduled). Tenth Street is scheduled to be improved from West Jefferson Avenue to West Beardmore Avenue. Thank you for your patience during this process.
